1989
With the foundation of KSI, Dr. Klaus Kraemer developed ELSAM X1 – the technological successor to the ELSAM system – for Ernst Leitz / Leica.
1994
Dr. Klaus Kraemer inherited the full line of products of scanning acoustic microscopes from Ernst Leitz / Leica and founded the company “Kraemer Scientific Instruments GmbH” with world-wide 10 sales-agenties.




1995
Development of the ultrahigh frequency scanning acoustic microscope SAM 2000 by Dr. Klaus Kraemer based on ELSAM.
1996
Development of the first Lamb wave lens with frequency depensive measurements.




1997
Market introduction of SAM 200, scan ning acoustic microscope with 200 MHz for industrial applications.
1998
Foundation of „IFA – Institut für Akus tomikroskopie”, a service provider for analysing samples.




2000
WINSAM Vario I-III scanning acoustic microscope series for research and quality control with frequencies up to 400 MHz.
2002
Air support linear motion scanner for SAM, industrial applications, maintanance free.




2004
Development and market introduction of the Evolution series I-III. SAM with 500 MHz bandwidth.
2005
Implementation of Wafer-Handler for SAM Evolution series. Implementation of Twin - and Multihead Transducersystem with SAM . A publication and development of IFA (Institut of Acoustic Microscopy)




2006
The Auto-Ingot was presented.
2008
New v-Series is introduced with the products v-200, v-400, v-700, v-1000, v-duo, v-quattro and v-octo




2009
The company KSI - Kraemer Sonic Industries GmbH with the registered office in Herborn (Germany) is founded.
2010
Development of a new Transducer series with FCT (Fluid Cut Technology)




2011
Development and construction of a custom multi-channel system for a leading manufacturer in the area of microelectronics.
2012
Development and construction of fully automated multi-channel SAM systems for full production control.




2013
Presentation of the new KSI V8 scanning acoustic microscope for research and production control.
2015
Due to the increased demand of customized solutions in the field of acoustic microscopy, we restructured our company. Companies, patents and innovations corresponding with scanning acoustic microscopes were integrated in the company IP-holding.




2016
Presentation of the new KSI ALISA scanning acoustic microscope for acoustic layer and interface shape analysis.
2017
Presentation of the new fully automated ultrasonic microscope "KSI Inline SAM" with complete sample handling and automatic analysis.




2018
Development of new sample stages for effective sample placement and fixation in KSI Scanning Acoustic Microscopes, both for standard SAMs and for inline systems for fully automated sample placement.
2019
Development of smart acoustic microscopy with the KSI AI scan mode for the future of Scanning Acoustic Microscopy using unique Artificial Intelligence SAM Imaging.




2020
The KSI Water Reactor for generating and conditioning ultrapure coupling water, ensuring stable and reliable ultrasound measurements with Scanning Acoustic Microscopes. Its integrated CO₂ absorber, osmosis unit, and bubble elimination reduce measurement errors and make it ideal for cleanroom and production use.
2021
KSI Automated Sample Detection enables fast, reliable, and fully automated sample detection, measurement, and scan field setup for KSI scanning acoustic microscopes – all at the push of a button.




2022
KSI develops new KSI VASC-UNI software, enabling ultra-fast and easy semi-automatic scanning and evaluation of multiple sample batches – featuring intuitive recipe management and instant print- or export-ready inspection reports.
2023
The new KSI v400E+ is a state-of-the-art Scanning Acoustic Microscope featuring an innovative optional sample stages with automatic sample loading and quick adaptation for fast application changes—perfectly suited for high-throughput environments and seamless integration into semi-automated workflows.




2024
The new KSI Multiscan is an innovative scanning acoustic microscope offering simultaneous top and bottom scanning of multiple samples, ultra-high frequency through-scans with an extra large scan area, for maximum precision and efficiency in material inspection.
